About the Alliance
The Alliance for Southern California Innovation (the “Alliance”) is a not for profit formed in 2017 that has successfully brought together the heft of Southern California’s top research institutions, local business leaders, and world-class advisors to focus on bridging critical gaps in the SoCal innovation ecosystem. The goal of the Alliance is to engage and unify SoCal’s compelling diversity of talent, ideas, and perspectives in order to optimize the conditions for the region’s innovators to bring breakthroughs to the world.
Alliance programs focus on developing and connecting SoCal’s diverse innovation communities while attracting new capital to Southern California by identifying, nurturing, and matching high potential startups to leading venture investors. By working together with community leaders, the Alliance tackles regional issues including retaining top STEM talent and growing the base of local institutional capital.
Our Mission
Our mission is to more fully capitalize on SoCal’s compelling diversity of talent, ideas and perspectives by optimizing the conditions for SoCal’s innovators to bring more breakthroughs to the world and further elevate the region as a global leader in innovation, technology & entrepreneurship.

Annual Report programs, impact, and regional metrics
Each year we publish our Annual Report which features a comprehensive summary of how we serve the SoCal innovation community through our programs. As a regional super connector, our reports showcase our programs’ impact and engagement metrics, as well as financial disclosures and high level ecosystem metrics that we track.
Our Commitment to Diversity
The Alliance for Southern California Innovation commits to fostering diversity, inclusion, and equity in the organizations involved in our growing entrepreneurial ecosystem, whether those be industry or educational partners, startups, incubators, venture capital firms or limited partnerships. We believe that the greatest technological and scientific challenges facing society are best addressed when diverse groups of individuals—with unique perspectives and lived experiences—work together to explore and develop innovative solutions.
Our Strategy
Our programming strategy has been deeply influenced by the findings of a comprehensive analysis of the Southern California innovation ecosystem we initiated with the Boston Consulting Group. Although the region’s innovation ecosystem has evolved significantly since the report’s original publication, the framework it provides is still relevant and fundamental to our success.
