Carey Ransom is an SaaS entrepreneur, executive, investor and advisor, and has started, grown and/or led 8 B2B and consumer SaaS companies during startup and growth phases. He is currently President of Operate and the Managing Director of BankTech Ventures, a newly-launched strategic investment fund focused on compelling technologies for community banks, and founded and funded by leaders in the community bank ecosystem. With full support and endorsement by the ICBA (Independent Community Bankers of America) and The Venture Center, Finovate’s 2020 Accelerator of the Year, the fund serves the community banking ecosystem through strategic investments, education and collaboration with its limited partners. Prior to Operate he was COO at Aspiration, the leading “consumer financial firm with a conscience,” where he led the firm’s growth from 20 to 200 people and the build out of infrastructure and approval as a FINRA-regulated broker-dealer. He was also CEO of RealPractice, a venture-backed SaaS company, which he sold to ReachLocal (RLOC); Chief Product & Innovation Officer of Experian Consumer Services; and founding CMO of Happy Money, a venture-backed consumer fintech company (and unicorn) that innovated in lending and financial health. Carey’s 25-year career spans executive roles in product, marketing, business development, strategy and corporate development. He was VP Business Development at Brand Affinity Technologies (BAT), an Internet advertising and celebrity endorsement business; VP Marketing and Corporate Development at WebVisible, where he forged new partnerships with AT&T, American Express and Microsoft and led them to nearly 10X revenue growth; VP Sales and Marketing at MessageRite, security compliance SaaS business acquired by Frontbridge Technologies, and then Microsoft. Carey is active in the SoCal startup and investment community – OCTANe, CEO Leadership Alliance of Orange County (CLA-OC), and has been an instructor or guest lecturer at numerous schools including UCLA, USC, UC Irvine, Chapman, Cal State Fullerton, Biola and Vanguard. He has recruited and hired nearly 1000 people in the last 20 years, and passionately believes in purpose, culture and team as key ingredients to successful companies. He has frequently spoken at financial, software and other conferences such as SaaStock, Recurring Revenue, Lendit, AltFI, Innovation Project, Frost & Sullivan and IMA. Carey is an entrepreneur with a passion for sharing and discussing ideas while learning and teaching along the way. Carey is a husband and a father who loves to act like a kid because he’s truly a kid at heart. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and traveling. You’ll often find Carey on the sidelines of one of his children’s sporting games cheering them on.


Austin is a Managing Director and Partner within BCG X, BCG’s tech build and design unit focused in healthcare. Austin partners with healthcare companies to launch innovative new products and businesses ranging from digital front door solutions to digital care delivery products. Austin lead the GenAI efforts for the Healthcare Payer and Provider unit at BCG. Prior to BCG, Austin has held roles across strategy, engineering, product, design, and operations in consulting, technology companies, and start-ups. Relevant BCG experience: Led shift for hospital from digital to product organization launching multiple products across maternity postpartum, migraine treatment, next-gen urgent care; Launched digital 2nd opinion platform for top specialty health system; Developed digital home health business and product strategy for regional health system; Built digital engagement platform aimed at preventing the progression of cardiac disease through sustained behavior change; Built AI-patient engagement app to improve adherence and experience; Launched healthcare business and hardware / software AI medical device for consumer goods company focused on driving health at home and preventative care; Conducted enterprise assessment and redesign for prior-authorization technology portfolio at a large national payer. Education: Stanford University, M.S. in Mechanical Engineering & Product Design, University of Florida, B.S. in Mechanical Engineering & Business Administration.


Dr. Debbie Lin has over 20+ years of business leadership experience in multinational environments, having lived and worked in global executive positions in the US, Europe and Asia. Debbie’s forte is new business model strategy, business development, venture capital in healthcare and medtech with a focus on scientific product development, value proposition refinement, and market access. As Executive Director for Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund, Debbie was accountable for digital health investments, board directorship and digital health strategy setting in North America. Previous to her role at the Venture Fund, she was Global Director of Corporate Development where she crafted new business models for healthcare in major global markets. She has also held operational roles in field based Health Economics and Medical Affairs working with national payers, regional providers and opinion leaders. She supported more than 5 drug launches and a variety of disease indications. Debbie is a Adjunct Faculty Advisor at UCLA Anderson School of Business and a mentor at Stanford MedicineX. She currently in VP of Strategic Partnerships at Caris Life Sciences, a precision oncology diagnostics company and a Venture partner at T.Rx Capital.


Phil Martie is the founder and CEO of Nicolette. Inspired by Phil’s NICU journey with extremely premature twins, Nicolette was founded to put patients and their families at the center of care. Nicolette’s patient-facing apps transform raw patient data into easy-to-use yet powerful tools that empower patients to be competent and confident teammates with their care team. Prior to Nicolette, Phil spent 15 years in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, primarily with Canon. He served roles in analytics, sales, and operations, last serving as VP Operations.


TJ Malseed is the chief information officer for Keck Medicine of USC, leading growth and overseeing operations for information systems at hospital sites, ambulatory locations and office-based practices. He also supports information management and integration of care initiatives for Keck Medicine’s patients.
Malseed also serves as associate dean for information services at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and chief information officer of the university’s Health Sciences Campus.
Prior to joining Keck Medicine in 2016, Malseed held the positions of vice president, chief information officer and chief applications officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). With 20 years of experience in information technology, Malseed oversaw the strategy and direction for CHLA’s technology efforts and led numerous clinical, revenue cycles, financial, human resources and research technology efforts.
Malseed holds a bachelor’s degree in international business and a minor in computer science from the University of California, Davis. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Pediatric Leadership Council for Cerner Corporation.
